Pacer Forensics
The Lakeridge High School Speech and Debate Team provides an excellent environment for students to improve their ability to speak in front of others, to think on their feet, and to organize their thoughts, research and conclusions.
Parents are welcome at tournaments! Forensics tournaments have a similar flow to track meets and swim meets.
Following are the ways that parents can help:
Camp Parents stay in the main gathering room, usually a cafeteria or large classroom, and when debaters come back from their rounds provide smiles and encouragement. Bring a book, some work, or a craft - sometimes there are long periods of waiting and quiet.
Judges are individuals who listen to and evaluate participants in a tournament. Volunteer judges keep tournament costs down, and help all teams’ budgets. The LHS Team will help you learn to judge. It is very rewarding, and easier than you think.
Care Packages with healthy snacks and cold non-carbonated drinks are always appreciated.
COACH HALAH ILIAS maintains a website with the tournament schedule and more information.
An organizational/informational meeting will take place in September after school. Please check this site for updates.
